How to be sure you will go to heaven

Do what God’s Word says and take the one and only way He has provided for your salvation. Jesus Christ said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me“ (John 14:16) and “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved“ (John 10:9). “Nor is there salvation in any other“ but Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12)

God’s plan of salvation in the Bible is as simple as A, B, C:

Admit you are a sinner. “There is no one who does not sin” (II Chronicles 6:36). There is none righteous, no, not one” (Romans 3:10). “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Acknowledge that you are separated from God because not even one sin is allowed in heaven. “There shall by no means enter into it anything that defiles or causes an abomination or makes a lie” (Revelation 21:27). “But your iniquities (sins) have separated you from your God” (Isaiah 59:2). “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

Believe Jesus Christ, God the Son, died in your place to take the punishment for your sins. “Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures” (I Corinthians 15:3, 4). “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

Choose to trust the atoning death of Christ as the only sacrifice God will accept for the forgiveness of your sins. “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace” (Ephesians 1:7).

You must receive Jesus Christ as your own, personal Savior and Lord to have your sins forgiven and become a child of God. “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe on His name” (John 1:12). If you want to trust Jesus Christ, alone and completely, to take you to heaven someday, you can receive Him now by faith through prayer. “For by grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast” (Ephesians 2:8, 9) “That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith” (Ephesians 3:17). “Whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13).

The following is a suggested prayer: “Dear Lord Jesus, I believe that you died on the cross for my sins and rose again. Please come into my heart and life right now and be my own Savior and Lord. Please forgive my sins, save my soul, and make me the kind of person You want me to be. In Jesus Christ name I pray. Amen.

If you received Christ, He has promised “I will never leave you” (Hebrews 13:5).
--Join a good, Bible believing church (Hebrews 10:25).
--Read and obey God‘s word (James 1:22). Begin with the Gospel of John.
--Pray and confess your sins to fellowship closely with Him (I John 1:9).
--Witness for Christ by your life and words (Acts 1:8).
